You can intuit repeating something slowly and gradually speeding it up is tedious and inefficient.
After all sports, dance and reading are NOT taught this way. The slow-to-fast strategy does work, but it's one of literally thousands of ways we can practice.
Curious why your previous attempts fell short?
Many people start here:
➔ You engage in goaless practice without minimum standards which can make you worse
➔ You haven't grasped how your own body and mind learn
➔ You believe playing the piano is about pressing the right notes at the right time
➔ You haven't nurtured the right mindset for success
This program gets amazing results because:
➔ You will learn a principle-based approach to deliberate practice
➔ You will ritualize your practice to remove mental and physical friction
➔ You will understand how change is made at the cellular level
➔ You will experience lasting motivation when you understand the mind and body benefits of a piano practice.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where is the class held? Classes take place Thursdays from 12:00 - 1:00PM at OPERA America in Chelsea (27x7th ave). Classes run four consecutive Thursdays starting January 22nd - February 12. We will also livestream classes for folks who cannot attend live.
What playing level is this course for? This course will assume basic note reading. If you are an absolute beginner, you could learn these concepts and apply them as you learn to read music, but it will feel challenging. This training is for anyone who lacks direction in their musical endeavors and would like to learn the benefits of a piano practice. The principles presented are universal and apply to all levels.
Do I need to own a piano? Classes will take place in-studio with a piano, and while we encourage having a piano at home to practice it is not required.
What styles of music are covered? Classical training is the most rigorous, gold standard of piano playing. Most examples will be from the classical repertoire, but I will also pull from Folk and Pop music. All principles learned in this course may be applied to other genres.
